Busy weekend for Ards Rugby:
Even though the competitive league season is over Ards Rugby's Senior, Youth and Mini sections continue to represent the club at various events throughout Irish rugby.
Ards seniors aka 'Athletico Ards' were represented at the Carrick 7s on Saturday led by Chris McClure & Mark Banford in the absence of Stewart Paul.
Athletico Ards reached the semi final of the open competition and were defeated by eventual winners NGN representing Ballynahinch 17-10.
The squad consisted of Chris McClure, Nathan Graham, Bale Tabaiwalu, Ross Torney, Adam McKee, Onisi Burekama, Ryan McCarroll and Mark Banford.
Ards U14s hosted Glasgow based Scottish club West of Scotland on Saturday at Hamilton Park.
Both teams played an exciting match with Ards running out winners; Dylan Anderson continued in his try scoring form and he was joined by Mark Patton and Gerald Quinn on the scoreboard.
West of Scotland were very complimentary regarding the welcome and hosting they received at Hamilton Park and extended a warm invite to any travelling Ards teams in the future.
An intrepid band of parents and players from Ards Mini Rugby P6 squad travelled to Athy on Saturday morning ably led by coaches Jonny Bell and Gordy McBride to take part in the Athy Rugby Camp Out.
By all accounts the players.........and parents had a ball.
