A 4-0 win at Seel Park in our opening competitive friendly of the season saw the lads lift the Willow Wood Hospice Cup. A strong performance in their first workout of the season lifted the cup against a Mossley team looking short on age and experience with nothing much to offer against a Robins team in full control throughout the match. Josh Rose and Jonathan Bathurst put the game to bed with two goals in the second half to add to two well worked efforts in the first half from one of our new signings.
Yes it was only our first game, and yes the result doesn't really count that much, but try telling that to the Ashton famns who turned out to support on a rainy evening at our neighbours.
Both teams played in good spirit and for a friendly it was quite competitive. Good luck to Mossley for the coming season. We'll look forward to our next 1st team workout at Chadderton next Tuesday.
