Classic Colts at Avonmouth 1978-79

Avonmouth Old Boys Colts XV are heading for a record breaking season.
At the half way stage, they have won 13 of their 14 fixtures ---- and have not conceded a try since the match against Chepstow on Sept 10th.
The points tally is 551 with only 40 against. The only defeat at the start of the season when a weakened side went down 4-3 to Clifton.
Former Avonmouth Hooker Gerry Weatherhead runs the team. The line-up includes a number of players who have gained major schoolboy honours – former England under 16 fly half Alun Rees, Wayne Hone, skipper Ian McNab, Craig Watts, and Bruce McFarlane --- and winger Alan Josefwicz is rated one of the most improved players in the club.
Another useful newcomer is former Bristol Grammar School centre Simon Hogg.
