BJC Silverware for our u14's squad

A massive congratulations must go to our U14's squad, coaches and backroom staff who this weekend took to the field in the Bristol Junior Combination Plate Final.
The squad came away 27-7 winners Vs a strong Clifton RFC U14's side.

The game played at North Bristol RFC on the 4G started quickly with both sides showing their intent to play wide open rugby. It was Clifton who opened the scoring first after a breakaway down the far touch line that was eventually finished off on the opposite side of the pitch. 0-7

With both sides eager to cross the line next, the following 15 minutes saw Avonmouth penalised heavily. Likely down to the young mouth side forcing things a little to find that scoring opportunity. A powerful drive from a pick and go saw Avonmouth cross the line and convert it just before half time. 7-7

What ever was said at half time by coaches Tash Williams and Sylvan Edwards, it worked. The young mouth side came out the blocks all guns blazing. A cracking tackle from a strong kick chase at the restart allowed for a perfect chance to counter ruck and turn the ball over on the Clifton 5mtr line. After a couple of pick and carries from the forwards it finally saw the side cross the whitewash to put Avonmouth in front for the first time in the game. The try was unconverted 12-7.

Some ferocious tackling from the forwards and plenty of counter rucks, stifled the Clifton 9's chance of clean ball. It resulted in a turnover and the pack coming alive again to create another try scoring opportunity from some strong ball carries. 17-7

The game started to open up a little after this with both sides making good breaks but it wasn't long before the ball was scooped up from a loose pass by Avonmouth, span wide with some slick hands that resulted in Avonmouth going in for an unconverted try. 22-7

With Clifton still pressing hard, the Avonmouth packs relentless pressure at scrum, line out and ruck ended up telling and it saw further turn overs which gave the Avonmouth backs one last opportunity to cross over in the corner for an unconverted try much to the delight of the Avonmouth crowd. 27-7

A nail biting last few minutes where Clifton had plenty of go forward saw the ref call full time and the young Avonmouth bench empty onto the pitch to celebrate with their team mates.

A cracking game to watch and a great advertisement for local youth rugby.
This is the first time in many a year that a youth side at Avonmouth has brought Bristol Junior Combination silverware home and the boys and coaches should all be extremely proud of themselves.

Well Done to all involved.
