Mini Rugby ‘old boys’ front up Ulster U18s

Roger Corbett6 Sep 2013 - 07:00

With Mini Rugby resuming again on Sunday 8th Sept 2013, it is an appropriate time to recognise the achievements of some "old boys" from that section.

For their first fixture of the season against Sale Academy in Manchester last week, Ulster U18s fielded a team which comprised a front row of Elliott Boyd (Campbell College), Andrew Shaw (Bangor Grammar School) and Connor McIlmurray (Campbell College), all of whom began their rugby careers in the Club’s Mini section.

Congratulations are also due to Christopher Jordan (Sullivan Upper School) who was another graduate from that section. Chris is an extremely promising three quarter who turned out for Ulster 17s last week in their fixture against Lancashire Schools.

If any boys starting the game for the first time in the Mini section need any encouragement, they need look no further than these four young men to see what can be achieved. The Club sends its congratulations to each of them on their success to date and wishes them all the best for the forthcoming interprovincial series and their respective rugby careers thereafter.

For those who have now out-grown the Mini section, youth rugby at Upritchard Park has also commenced each Thursday evening at 7:00pm, and all boys between 12 and 18 are welcome.
