Barry Town United are proud to report that former striker Christian Doidge has signed a two-year deal with Dagenham and Redbridge.

Signing for Barry from Croesyceiliog in November 2011, Christian scored 16 times for the Town in 16 matches that season, culminating with a brace in the memorable 4-3 win at Bridgend's Brewery Field on the final day.

His second season at Jenner Park saw the striker net ten times in 14 appearances, with a hat-trick against Goytre United at Jenner Park and a goal in the 2-0 win at AFC Porth which put the Town on top of Welsh League Division One.

Dynamic Doidge also hit the the winner at Penrhyncoch in November 2012, helping the Town towards a first Welsh Cup semi-final in a decade the following spring.

Bagging a brace in the 5-2 win over Cambrian and Clydach on the club's 100th birthday, Doidge now makes further history by joining David Forde, Adebayo Akinfenwa and Mike Flynn as former Barry players in the Football League.

As a trivia note, this transfer is particularly notable for Town historians, as Barry's sole FA Cup First Round win came against the old Dagenham side, way back in 1929.

With pre-season strikes under his belt already against Billericay and Tottenham Hotspur, all at Barry Town wish the 21-year old the very best with this exciting new step in his career.
