Young Barwell defender Cameron Gilchrist played his way into Jimmy Ginnelly's plans on Tuesday evening, with an impressive display against Halesowen Town.

Gilchrist's defensive abilities were put to the test, starting out at right full-back and then tucking in to the right-hand side of a back three following Declan Towers' sending off just before half time.

His efforts on Tuesday were met with praise from several fans in The Holt Stand.

Speaking after the game, Jimmy Ginnelly praised Gilchrist's hard work.

"Cam’s very young, coming out of the academies into this level of football. The only way he can learn is by playing. A few defenders were missing so Cam deserved a shot. He trains every week, he’s a great kid. When does he get a chance if not in a game like this? The kid’s done well tonight."
