BIDEFORD 4 KETTERING TOWN 0

BIDEFORD 4 KETTERING TOWN 0

Jules Redeye27 Nov 2012 - 22:08

Bideford bagged another vital 3 pts with their second successive home victory and clean sheet, against a youthful and lively opposition.

Goals from Matt Andrew, Sean Downing (2) and Kevin Squires gave Biddy their 5th win of the season, moving them 4 points away from the relegation zone.

After a 15 min delay, the first half ended with Biddy deservedly leading 2-0 via goals from Matt Andrew and Sean Downing, with the visitors looking dangerous on the break. Both teams were guilty of giving the ball away too much on a bobbly pitch, but Bideford seemed to have the better of things overall.

The home support wondered if the epic 8 hour journey down from Northamptonshire would tell on the visitors for the second half, but Kettering weren't giving up without a fight and took the game to Biddy for the first part of the second period. Had they had more sharpness in front of goal things could have been different, but Paul Hider in the Biddy goal was rarely tested, and one goal liner clearence aside, the home defence stood strong.

Sean Downing's 3rd for Biddy with 10 mins to go in reality put the result beyond doubt (the goal itself was quality), and a final push from Biddy toward the end of the game after the introduction of Richard Groves and Jack Furzer, gave the hosts their 4th (via Kev Squires) with a couple mins to go.

All at Bideford AFC wish Kettering Town FC a safe (if later than expected) journey home.
