GOSPORT BOROUGH 2 BIDEFORD 0

GOSPORT BOROUGH 2 BIDEFORD 0

Jules Redeye23 Sep 2012 - 11:54

Southern League Premier rivals Gosport Borough scored two first half goals to end Bideford's FA cup run for another season.

Brett Poate and former Fulham Academy player Luke King scored in the first half for the big budget south coast side to knock Bideford out of the FA cup.

Poate, a long time player with Conference South side Havant & Waterlooville, was afforded too much space at a corner and the Gosport defender curled a fine shot past Sam Hutchings from 20 yards. Steve Orchard saw a shot beaten away by home 'keeper Nathan Ashmore before King turned in Justin Bennett's cross to double the lead.

Biddy improved after the break with substitute Isaac Vassell testing Ashmore and Matt Hockley hitting the post. But Gosport were good value for their win with the ex Swindon and Bristol Rovers pro Sammy Igoe and Danny Smith impressing in midfield.
