What are we doing?

After some slight persuasion from the clubs ladies section, Bradford Hockey Club president Andy Blanchfield has agreed to have his beard shaved for charity. Whilst this may not seem like a big thing, Andy is known for his beard just as much, if not more so than his hockey playing, to the extent that in his 14 years with the clubs senior section, very few if any of our members have seen him without it. The shaving will take place on the pitch between the Ladies 1XI & Mens 2XI games on the 10th February at Bradford Girls Grammar School.

All the money raised will be donated to Andy's Man Club to help them continue the amazing work they do across the country. So if you are able please consider donating, all donations are greatly appreciated.

What does Andy Man Club Do?

AMC is a non-judgemental talking group for men, their overall aim is to halve the number of suicides in men. Along side this they want to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health and create a judgment-free, confidential space where men can be open about the storms in their lives.

These groups meet weekly on a Monday evening and are free to join. There is no need to book; just turn up on the night. Andy's Man Club is named after Andrew Roberts, who sadly took his own life in 2016 aged 23. It started with just 9 men meeting in Halifax three months after Andy's death. AMC has grown too well over 150 clubs spread around the country, with new clubs opening regularly. AMC provides a place where men can meet over a brew and chat about pretty much anything, knowing they will be heard and respected.
