An early 10.00am tournament start at hosts, Ben Rhydding; the format - 5 Teams, 15-minute matches. At this time of year, the freezing temperatures meant a bit of uncertainty on whether the tournament would go ahead but following a pitch inspection at 8.00am, we got the green light that it would be ok.
Bradford arrived with a full squad which was an excellent turnout including Daya and Emily in their first tournament. Having missed the previous one due to a frozen pitch, the team were keen to play.
Game 1 - U12's Vs York 3
With a bigger squad and some new players, Bradford settled in and fought hard, losing out by a couple of goals in their first match. Final score Bradford 0 – York 2.
Game 2 - U12's Vs Ben Rhydding 2
Keeping the same format, Bradford managed to build on the first game and hold Ben Rhydding to a draw with Austen scoring from a pass down the left.
Final score Bradford 1 – Ben Rhydding 1
Game 3 - U12's Vs Leeds Adel 2
A two game break and some lunch and Bradford were keen to go again. Following on from his previous goal, Austen scored again first for Bradford. This was quickly repeated by a great strike from the top of the D by Amar. Adel managed to get one back towards the end of the game but we held on for our first win.
Final score Bradford 2 – Leeds Adel 1
Game 4 - U12's Vs Harrogate
This was always going to be a tough game as Harrogate had won all their previous matches. Despite a great effort, the Harrogate centre-half managed to slip through our defences to score.
Final score Bradford 0 – Harrogate 4
Full time, and Bradford finished the event in joint third place, well deserved, once all the points were tallied.
A big thank you to Ben Rhydding for hosting the tournament.
Well done everyone and plenty to build on for the final tournament in two week’s time.
