As you can probably guess, there's been a fair few changes for The Limers since the close of last season, I may even need to change my name!
Football being what it is, we find ourselves mid-table (10th) after a patchy start to life in the First Division, with another trip up the A1(M) to face bottom of the league, Arlesey Town Reserves.
An excellent 1-4 away win against Hillingdon Borough last week, lifted the club after just one win in the previous 6 games, which included a disappointing FA Vase result and Div 1 cup tie.
With The Goldsdown currently under works, our life on the road has been a rocky one, but the signs are good, as we have managed to keep in touch with the teams above us in the league.
Arlesey Town Reserves, in contrast to Brimsdown, have done their best work in the cups, with a midweek away victory over New Bradwell St Peter in the Div 1 Cup. However, they have struggled thus far in the league with just the one win in eleven and remain bottom.
Given each club's current league fortunes, The Limers will be hoping to get their first back-to-back victories of the season, while 'The Blues' Reserves will be looking to build on their recent cup form.
Important game for both sides; my money is on Brimsdown (surprised?) to get our fifth league win, which would give us the jump on our 8th placed Goldsdown neighbours, Woodford Town, who miss out on league action as they play Pitstone & Ivinghoe in the League Trophy.
A win will put us two points ahead, however, to leap frog Risborough Rangers in 9th, as well, we would need them to drop points away to Ampthill Town. Cannot see that coming, but forever the optimist.
Anyway, that will do for now, there is no past history with Arlesey Town Ressies as this is the first meeting between the clubs, so, as ever...we re-write our history every time we play.
