With a bang and a flourish Camelford marked its debut on the rugby circuit on Sunday 21st September 2008 at Bodmin.
The scoreline may show a defeat but anyone who was there will tell you the victory was ours the moment we stood on that pitch awaiting the first whistle.
From the off Camelford took the game to their opponents refusing to play the role of under dog, Bodmin had a game on their hands and they knew it.
For long periods Bodmin were matched and held by a Camelford side who wanted to show the world they had arrived on the rugby scene.
A determined push from the old hands of Bodmin and some break away tries inflicted the damage but at no time did Camelford let their heads go down and each time they came back searching for retaliation.
The glorious try came from a deftly worked set piece followed by a momentous drive by the forwards to allow Jon Ponting to place the ball down so giving the captain the honour of Camelfords first ever try.
With the final whistle a Camelford side stood in the sunshine knowing that all the training and dreaming had not been in vain. They had met the challenge head on and surpassed even their own expectations.
The final words need to be that of Nic Osborne for i don't believe it could be put any better.
"F****** AWESOME BOYS"
