It's been a busy couple of months for promising Carmel youngster Rohit Kaimal since he secured his place in the Wales squad earlier this year.

Rohit's father Arun has provided us with an update on how he's been getting on.

"Rohit's played a lot of cricket over the past few months, his game is really developing fast and he's come up against some of the best young players in county cricket in his U11 age group.

"He made his debut for Wales on a wet pitch against Lancashire at Rydal School on June 20th and finished with figures of 0-36 from five overs in tough conditions for a leg-spinner.

"The following day he bowled against a very strong Yorkshire team at Colwyn Bay CC and collected an impressive 1-19 from his five overs.

"That was followed up a game on Monday June 22nd against Cheshire at Brymbo CC where Rohit picked up his second wicket for Wales as he finished with 1-23 from five overs.

"Wales lost all three of the games but it was nevertheless a good learning curve.

"Unfortunately Rohit had to miss the Midlands tour with Wales because of school commitments.

"However, he was given the chance to open the batting against Worcestershire at Montgomery CC on Tuesday, July 21st and made a patient 17 in a 50-run opening stand as Wales won by seven wickets.

"He's also been really busy in action for North East Wales team with the highlight being figures of 6-15 from eight overs against Northamptonshire U11s.

"Rohit is now preparing for the South of England tour with Wales and hopefully we'll have an update on his progress again before the end of the season."
