This Saturday, we have plenty of Cup action on THREE fronts but all away with 1sts at Bassett and 3rds get walkover

Chippenham have loads of Rugby this weekend and after the great success last Saturday, have a busy schedule.

Chippenham 1sts were disappointed with the opening match of the PJ Championship Cup after going down 28-38 against Newent, in the first pool match. This Saturday, we head over to Royal Wootton Bassett for the 2nd pool match and a fixture we know very well. This will be the 3rd time Chippenham have played Bassett this season and so far its one a piece, with Chippenham winning away 28-33 back in November. Both sides lost their opening pool fixture, with Bassett going down 18-14 away at Winchester, so this is a big match for both sides and could be a decider in this season's Championship Cup. 3.00pm KO

Sadly, we have heard that Bradford-on-Avon are unable to raise a side and therefore have conceded the match to Chippenham. We wish Bradford well next season in their new league. This means Chippenham now progress into the Final!!! Chippenham 3rds continue their Cup Campaign after winning a competitive Quarter-Final on Saturday against Colerne by 62-17 and it was great to see Chippenham 3rds continue to put out strong squads. This Saturday, the Gentlemen 3rds head over to Bradford-on-Avon RFC for the Semi-Final of the Counties 3 Cup, with a 2.00pm KO. Bradford have had a tough time recently and even though they have a strong Junior section, only have one senior side although they have had a good season, winning D&W Counties 3 Central. They reached the semi-final after putting 62-10 on Melksham 2 last Saturday, so this could be a close match between two equal sides. Chippenham will need to be at their best for this one.. The winners of this Semi-Final will be playing Swanage & Wareham 2nds on Saturday 27 April and this will be a Home fixture.

In addition, we also have Chippenham Codgers in action on Saturday as they compete in the Dorset & Wiltshire Walking Rugby Festival. This is being hosted at Warminster RFC at 10.30am and the Codgers are looking forward to defending their Counties Title that they proudly won last season.

It will be busy as Chippenham Cavaliers are taking part in the Mixed Ability Cup on Saturday and this is being hosted by Melksham RFC. The fun starts at 10.30am and will feature Mixed Ability and Gender teams from Yeovil RFC, Walcot RFC, Melksham RFC, Chippenham RFC, Bath Ladies and Stothert & Pitt RFC. This is being organised by the brilliant team at Bath Rugby Foundation and we're sure everyone will have a great day!!

Please note that with all sides being away and no Rugby at Allington Fields, the Clubhouse will be closed on Saturday 20 April and reopen at 9.00am on Sunday 21 April.
