Lucy created another first for Consett RFC when she refereed Consett u/12's against Billingham u/12's on Sunday. She becomes the first female referee in Consett's 100 year history.
She recently completed a RFU Junior Ref. course and took control of her first full junior game, not an easy task when she is only a few years older than the two sets of players! Having officiated the game she then went on to play for her own team at scrum half.
Refereeing is not an easy thing to do in a game with such complex laws and teaches the individual to be confident, make quick decisions and is a great tool for personal development. Keep it up Lucy and hopefully others will follow!
