Club members meet the residents of Redwell Hills Nursing Home

it was an enjoyable morning
- John O'Connor

John O'Connor and Matthew Tetley visited Redwell Hills Nursing Home in Leadgate earlier in the week to give a talk on the centenary of Consett RFC.

The residents watched part of Consett RFC's YouTube Channel and were particularly impressed by Roy Tyerman. The visit was organised by Ellie Crowe, the activities co-ordinator at Redwell Hills and the residents have been invited to attend a rugby match and have a tour of the clubhouse.

John O'Connor said "it was an enjoyable morning and was particularly poignant for me as my mam was a long term resident of Redwell Hills. Its very important in Consett Rugby Club's centenary season to reach out to all parts of our community and the residents were delighted to receive the rugby balls so they could play the game in their own time!"

The photo shows Matthew Tetley, 25, a 1st XV players who at 6'5" was a firm favourite with all the residents. Matthew has been with Consett RFC from a very young age. He took time out from his job as a Quantity Surveyor with Absolute Civil Engineering one the clubs most valuable sponsors to represent the club at Redwell Hills.
