BROMSGROVE RFC PREVIEW

BROMSGROVE RFC PREVIEW

Kevin Robinson17 Sep 2013 - 09:17

First home game of the season for DMPRFC 1ST XV. N.B. 16-18 yr olds - £2 entry fee or free with membership card. (DMPRFC 1ST XV SQUAD ATTACHED)

On Saturday, Bromsgrove RFC are the visitors to the Northern Echo Arena, travelling from their Finstall Road HQ and we hope that their officials, supporters and players enjoy our hospitality.

Our visitors arrive here hopeful of success soon, as their two previous outings have not gone according to plan, with an initial loss on the first day of the new season (v Otley (A) 29 – 19) and last week going down at home (Luctonians, 12 – 28).

Pre-season, has unfortunately gone in similar fashion, with losses against Nuneaton (H, 17 – 21), Hinckley (A, 42 – 17) and Old Halesonians (H, 17 – 39).

Last season, DMPRFC was fortunate to record home and away victories against Bromsgrove RFC. The first game back in 2012 at Finstall Road, was a particularly close affair in torrid conditions (5 - 13), but the inaugural game on the opening of the Arena saw DMPRFC comfortable winners (62 - 7).

After the defeat at the hands of Macclesfield RFC in the league opener (30 – 19), in a much improved performance last week, DMPRFC put league points on the board with a bonus point victory at Hull RFC (12 – 39).
Full back Henry ROBINSON scored a hatrick of tries with centre Chris PEACE and flanker Jack ALLCOCK weighing in with one each. Gavin PAINTER had a good day with the boot, registering 14 points.

With some injured players still recovering from both games, the strength of the 1ST XV will be tested and coaches John NEWTON and Danny BROWN will be interested to see how other players fare in league action.

A big THANK YOU to all our sponsors and supporters in anticipation of the season ahead.
