Town changed their starting line once again with Ant O’Connor returning in goal and both Lewis Leslie and Sam Heavey starting midfield.

It was another large crowd of 173 which given the strong possibilities of impending showers was yet another positive to take forward from this season.

Long Buckby formed a guard of honour as Town entered the pitch to wild applause and a host of photographers around the tunnel.

It was the Bucks who started the stronger initially however Town soaked up the pressure and created the first chance when King broke from midfield. His cross found Taylor who beat his man in the box but dragged his shot just wide of the post.
Town broke the deadlock after 10 minutes when AARON KING picked up on a defensive mistake, rounded the keeper and slotted into an empty net.

Long Buckby had a chance themselves shortly after by Ant O’Connor saved the day after a shot across the front of goal looked dangerous.

Adam Creaney and Aaron King combined for Town’s next chance. King’s shot was blocked by Jordan May, and Alfie Taylor’s follow up went over the bar,

The Champions extended their lead on 35 minutes when Lukeman tried to reach a ball that appeared to be running through to the keeper when he was brought down by a defender. The referee made no hesitation in pointing to the spot. AARON KING took the penalty sending May the wrong way.

Almost 3 for Town just before halftime when a lovely flicked header from Sam Heavey set King down the right wing. His cross found Alfie Taylor whose hooked shot fell wide of the post.

First chance of the second half fell to the visitors when Manni Salumi tried his luck with a free kick from 25 yards out. Ant O’Connor was equal to it and it was Salumi again minutes later that had O’Connor going a full stretch to push the strikers effort just wide for a corner.

Grace Bakou had a great chance to put the Bucks right back in the match as he went through. O’Connor proved what a good asset he has been since he joined in December when he blocked the initial shot and Captain Ross Harris was there to clear up as always.

After this, Town created numerous chances, Taylor shot just wide from an Adam Creaney cross, May saved well from Confue and Lukeman headed a Creaney cross just over the bar.

AARON KING completed his hat trick in the 71st minute when he curled a free kick around the wall after Adam Confue had been brought down just outside the box.
This was the top scorers 23rd goal of the season from midfield.

Scott Sandy, younger brother of Elliott, twice went close after he was introduced to the game. First he knocked Creaney’s fierce cross just wide of the post. Shortly after, he ran on to Confue’s long ball, chipped the keeper but the ball bounced on the bar before falling down in front of the goal where the keeper just recovered in time to prevent the ball spinning back into the net.

The final chance of the second half, and the season, fell to Adam Confue when he headed Lewis Leslie’s cross just wide of the upright.

After the whistle, the table was set out with glorious trophy on show again. Regrettably Ken Barton and Malcolm Hobbs were unable to attend the presentation due to health issues.

It was Club President Frank Hobbs who still follows the club home and away, handed over the glorious trophy then beat a hasty retreat so the player’s celebrations could begin.

A fantastic day to end a fantastic season where they only dropped 4 points at home and scored over 100 goals in just 36 matches. The player’s presentation evening will now be held on the 28th April at the Football Club
