Aveley 0-5 Dulwich Hamlet

Liam Hickey2 Aug 2017 - 23:31

A hat trick from Dumebi Dumaka saw Dulwich record a comfortable win at Aveley's impressive new Parkside home

A Dulwich side that looked very close to full strength comprehensively defeated Aveley to spoil the opening night at their impressive new Parkside home.

Dulwich were neat and tidy in possession during the early stages without threatening to score. In fact, it took a good low save to his left by Preston Edwards from a deflected shot, to prevent the home side taking the lead. There was also a volley from the edge of the penalty area that Preston Edwards was pleased to see rise too high.

The first chance for Dulwich did not arrive until the 18th minute as Ralph Kottoy dribbled into the box but saw his weak effort saved.

The best early moments from Dulwich came from Nathan Green on the left and he was the source of the first goal in the 21st minute; his low cross being met by the onrushing Dumebi Dumaka who fired the ball low to the keeper's right.

Aveley threatened down their own left hand side with driving runs from their left full back, but he was unable to deliver the ball accurately into the box and, as a result, Preston Edwards was untroubled.

Dulwich started to take control in the final twenty minutes of the half. Nyren Clunis had an angled shot pushed away, Dumebi Dumaka had a shot held and Gavin Tomlin fired over when well placed.

With a minute to half time Dulwich's patient passing eventually saw Kenny Beaney thread a pass into the feet of Dumebi Dumaka who placed a precise low shot to the left of Johnson in the home goal.

Half Time 0-2

Dulwich were quickly into their stride at the start of the second half. Gavin Tomlin fired wide before Dumaka grabbed his hat trick in the 51st minute. A cross from the left would have presented him with a headed goalscoring chance, but he was bundled to the ground. He stepped up to convert the penalty and complete his
hat trick.

Two minutes later Dulwich had a second penalty when a surging run from Nyren Clunis ended with him being tripped. This time Gavin Tomlin converted from the penalty spot.

The game entered a lull before both Tomlin and Beaney had efforts blocked, following which Preston Edwards was called upon to save a spectacular overhead effort.

As the game entered its final minutes, Dulwich started to threaten again. Liam Vandiar had a shot deflected wide and Sanchez Ming fired over after a typical surging run.

Aveley had a free kick that was well hit but Preston Edwards always looked confident it was going wide and indtead it was Dulwich that convluded the scoring with two minutes remaining. Good work from Vandiar on the right saw him create space to deliver a low cross that Nana Boakye-Yiadom converted high into the net at the near post.

Final Score 0-5
