Charity begins at home!

Charity begins at home!

Mishi Morath24 Apr 2015 - 15:43

Whether we make the play-offs or not...there is still ONE game at Champion Hill, regardless!

On Sunday 10th May Dulwich Hamlet take on Dulwich Common based Kent County League Division One West side PECKHAM TOWN FC, in a charity match at Champion Hill Stadium, with a 2.00pm kick off.

Admission has been set at just £3 for adults, and £1 concessions; and every penny raised on the day will be donated directly to our new official charity partners for 2015/16 Cooltan Arts.

Cooltan Arts are well known locally for their excellent work in the mental health field, and the match coincides with the national event that is MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK, which runs from Monday 11th May to Sunday 17th May.

We are also hoping to stage a match on our 'hallowed turf' in the morning, involving our Supporters' Team, when we have confirmed the details we will let you know.

Mishi Morath, from the Dulwich Hamlet Football Committee, said:

"We had a similar match a couple of seasons ago, which was a great success, for the 'Southwark News' Evelina Childrens Hospital Appeal. With our link-up with Cooltan Arts, and wanting to highlight Mental Health Awareness Week, this seemed the perfect match to stage. And as always, Gavin Rose, his staff and players have been so supportive in giving up their time to play the game."

He went on:

" Mental Health issues are often invisible, and are likely to affect everyone, whether you suffer directly or know somebody who suffers from them. It's something that some of our fans have to deal with themselves...and we hope that Champion Hill is a friendly welcoming place to all. Mental health issues are nothing to be ashamed of or hide."
