McKerrow Trophy, 1st XI Player of the Year – Pat Druce
1st XI Players’ Player of the Year Award – Pat Druce

Pat took 24 league wickets (Av. 12, Econ. 3, Strike Rate 24) which put him as the league’s 4th top wicket taker and the ‘CricHQ Dumfries MVP, Most Valuable Player’. Three five wicket performances helped produce three wins. 5 for 22 to dismiss Uddingston for 72, 5 for 25 in a Drumpellier total of 68, and 5 for 35 to bowl out West of Scotland for 70, all achieved at Nunholm. Plus 133 league runs and a top score of 48 against Renfrew.

Freddy MacLachlan Trophy, 2nd XI Player of the Year - Stuart Alexander

Stuart led the attack bowling the most overs and was the leading wicket taker by some distance with 24 league wickets [Av. 10, Econ. 2.5, Strike Rate 25 balls]. Best bowling figures of 4 for 18 in the win over Ayr 2nds at Nunholm. Special mention should be made of a double figures score of 11 not out in the league, never being dismissed, plus a sharp catch in the slips, an unaccustomed fielding position.

2014 Jimmy Steele Bowling Trophy – Alan Davidson

The Jimmy Steel Bowling Trophy went to Alan Davidson for figures of 6 wickets for 21, in eleven overs, away against Poloc in the Scottish Cup. He was supported in that match by 3 wickets from Peter Lojszczyk, and an outstanding diving catch from Andrew Kyle, to dismiss the home side for 77.

2014 Young Player of the Year – Niall Alexander

The Young Player of the Year Award went to eighteen year old Niall Alexander for an outstanding season in which he made an impact as a regular opening bowler with the first eleven. Opening the bowling he was the side’s top wicket taker in the league with 25 wickets, was the 3rd top wicket taker in the league, and also across all competitions for the 1sts. Combining with Pat Druce the pair were the top wicket taking opening bowling attack in the league.

He also figured with Scotland Under 19s and performed well in the North Sea Pro-Series with the Scotland Reivers which included matches around Scotland and the Netherlands and included playing for them at home at Nunholm.

2014 Women’s Player of the Year – Kirsty Strachan

Kirsty hit the season’s top score with a dominating innings of 74 not out in the league match against Ayr. She was the key player in the batting line-up and contributed as well as a bowler, bowling tightly and being rewarded with wickets as well.

She was a member of the Scotland Women’s side that won Division 3 of the ECB County Championship and gained promotion to Division 2 for next season and for which she is also the possessor of a league winner’s medal from the ECB.

2014 Strachan Cup , Most Improved Women’s Player of the Year – Ally McCubbin

Ally’s improvement was in her batting in particular where she produced consistent batting performances in all her innings where she always approached or reached a score in the twenties and contributed to several important partnerships. She held the innings together when it was required and could then indulge in her preference for hitting boundaries. She also proved resolute with her wicket-keeping behind the stumps.
