Late Goals Sink Rocks

After end to end play in the opening stages of the game but neither keeper being tested, Ayo Odukoya smashed a powerful low driven shot against the post which cannoned away from the goal and fell nicely to Olukolu who worked his way around Barton defenders. He then laid off Mo Amir who curled a right footed shot into the top corner of the goal off the bottom of the crossbar from 20 yards. Barton then had a couple of chances themselves but they came to nothing as one was wide and one straight at Bort in goal. An injury to Ben Wyss meant the defence had to be changed around slightly. With 7 minutes of the first half to go Barton had a shot parried by Bort but Adeyileka was there to tidy up from 5 yards. It looked as if it would be one a piece going into half time but on the final minute of the half Frankie Franz played Olukolu in and he slotted home past Groom neatly into the bottom right hand corner.

Second Half:

Chances were few and far between for the Rocks in the second half but Odukoya did go close dragging his shot slightly wide of the target. Barton had numerous chances which they wasted, hitting the outside of the post on a counter attack and firing over a number of times. After 84 minutes a penalty was given after a Barton attacker was tripped up inside the box. Rhiney made no mistake and fired into the bottom left to level the game. On the final minute of normal time Barton won a free kick on the edge of the box which took a big deflection leaving Bort stranded and the ball somehow crept into the right hand corner of the goal. That’s how the game ended and sadly we exit the FA Cup.
