Gunners Win the Lawson Cup and take the Army Corps Championship

The Royal Artillery won the Army Corps Championship for the second time in their history in a highly charged and entertaining final at the Army Rugby Stadium. The Gunners came from behind against a very strong REME side who were hoping to take the title again a decade after they last won the famous trophy.

From the off the REME were determined to prove a point racing into a 12 point lead but the Gunners kept their cool to claw their way back into the match. At one point the Gunners were down to 11 men after a 26 man brawl as emotions spilled over. The REME were unable to capitalise with the advantage as the first half ended 16 all.

In the second half the Gunners began to get on top of their opponents as they started to dominate the match with the advantage firmly with them the Gunners were able to carve open the REME's defence by sticking to the game plan which allowed them to win the game 36 - 22.
