Seaton gained revenge for September loss to Hartlepool with a 22-13 victory at Hornby Park.

Pool won the toss and elected to play against the elements first half. Seaton stated the brighter and put Pool under pressure however Sully and captain Andy Small kept Seaton at bay with some superb tackling. After 10 minutes, Seaton broke the dead lock with fine individual try from winger Jon Taylor. 5 minute later Lewy Humble penalty extended Seaton’s lead to 8-0. Pool were forced into a positional change after 20 when Andy Small suffered a neck injury, as a result Dave White moved from prop to hooker and Neil Steed moved to replace Davey White. Pool took time to settle but after 30 minutes a fine Kegen Thomas penalty, brought Pool back into the game 8-3. Pool then finished the first half the stronger of the 2 side and Seaton were reduced to 14 men after Peter Storey was sin binned for persistent infringements.

Second half, following a Hartlepool scrum, Sully picked up from the base of the scrum and was driven on by the Pool pack to the Seaton try line 10 metres, however Seaton stole the scrum and cleared the ball away.

Jason Norman attacked the blind side and after beating the first defender he looked odds on favourite to score in the corner but a fine tackle stopped him 2 meters out. With Seaton back to 15 players, Andy Wray throw was caught by Stewart Hind,Jim Greensmith fed Kegen Thomas who attacked the Seaton line before he passed to Jason Norman who scored under the post with a 20 metre run in. Kegen Thomas conversion made the score 14-10. Seaton were then penalised at the break down and Kegen Thomas penalty brought Pool right back into the game. Pool drove on the line out and gained 10 metres, the ball was passed along the backs but the all important final pass was thrown forward with the Seaton line exposed.

With the game perfectly balanced and Seaton leading 14-13,who ever scored the try would win the game and Seaton scored the all important try, Lewy Humble attacked blind and beat 3 players to score a fine score to make the game 19-13, he then successfully converted his try to give Seaton a winning 22-13 lead. Seaton finished the stronger for a deserved victory. Best for Pool was centre Jason Norman and scrum half Jim Greensmith.
