After weeks of planning and with over 550 Players from 30 different clubs it was time to put all the hard work into action and bring the festival to life.
With volunteers up early to prepare, the morning saw the U6's, U7's and U11's enjoy a great morning of football. It was the first time that the U6's had played in a football festival and wearing their new kits, which arrived the day before, it was great to see the next generation of IMFC players take to the field.
With only an hour to prepare for the afternoon, it wasn't long before teams from U8's, U9's and U10's were arriving to get the afternoon's festival underway. A big shout out must go to SB Frankfort AFC who travelled all the way from Plymouth to take part. A big thanks to Adam Williams, players, coaches and parents for making the long journey to South Wales.
The afternoon was another brilliant success with players enjoying playing football in a friendly atmosphere.
The festival was again organised brilliantly thanks to the hard work of Richard Belby and Sian Blackmore who prepare months in advance to ensure that everyone who attends has the best experience.
Thanks must also go to the volunteers who helped to mark out pitches, set up goals, collect litter and control the car parking. The ladies who added colour to the festival with their hair spraying talents and to Barry Comp for allowing us to host the festival at the school.
The biggest thanks must go to the players, coaches, parents and supporters who made the festival a success by competing, supporting and playing football in the right spirit and just enjoying the day.
Here are photos of the day. There are a few!! Photo Album 1 and Photo Album 2
Look forward to next year's festival as preparations are already underway.
