As the Official Inclusion Partner Club to the Harlequins, we welcomed Tabai to West Ham to lead one of our sessions

Last year we were delighted to agree a unique relationship with Harlequins, becoming an Official Inclusion Partner Club. As a part of that we were excited to welcome Tabai Matson, Director of Performance Development, to a recent training session. Tabai led sessions with all 4 of our teams, equating to over 100 players, delivering sessions on tackle height, physical performance warm ups and game play scenarios.

Matt Rozier, Director of Rugby, said:

"It was fantastic to have Tabai join us for training. Not only does it give our players a taste of elite training from the top of the game, it also gives our coaches a valuable learning experience too! As a coaching group we’ve picked up some fantastic ideas whilst also observing how Tabs communicates with players.

We had a brilliant turnout from players who made the most of the opportunity to work with other teams from within the club whilst being coached by one of the best in the game. The partnership between KXS and Harlequins has really kicked off this season and that is largely down to Tabai who has been very keen to engage with us. For me personally as Director of Rugby I have been able to learn a lot, whilst also utilising the partnership to help our coaching team grow too."

The Steelers have been a part of all five games, telling our stories, supporting the matches and helping to show the LGBTQ+ community that rugby as a player and supporter, is open to all.

This is just one of the many ways the two clubs are working together to ensure our rugby offer is at its best and that rugby at all levels, is visibly a game for all. It builds on recent coaching support knowledge exchange sessions between the clubs and close collaboration around amplifying communication to the LGBTQ+ community.

On Friday, Harlequins will be hosting their 5th Pride game against Leicester Tigers, this year opening Premiership Rugby's first ever LGBTQ+ Pride Round weekend.
