Warlingham Preview

Knaphill FC Webmaster16 Aug 2012 - 22:15

Knaphill are on the road for the first time this season as they face Warlingham at Whyteleafe FC on Saturday.

The Knappers will be looking to kick start their campaign following two disappointing defeats to Eversley & California and South Kilburn by picking up their first win. Our hosts are also yet to register a win having drawn their opening league game 4-4 with league new boys Epsom Athletic. Warlingham also exited the FA Cup on Wednesday night losing 3-2 to Premier Division opposition Chessington & Hook Utd after the first tie finished 2-2.

Last season we drew 2-2 with Warlingham at Redding Way with the Knappers goals coming from Ricky Hogsden and Adam Watts however two late goals on from former Knapper Woody Cardona denied us all three points.
The return fixture at Church Road saw our hosts snatched a last gasp winner after Gavin Brainch had drawn us level in the second half.

Team news

In the absence of manager Phil Ellery, assistant manager Paul Thornton takes charge of the side which sees the return of skipper Jim Ward who missed last week's defeat. Matt Ward also makes his first appearance of the season whilst George Pearce is unavailable.
There are call ups for promising duo Jonny Coates and Sam Light. Left back James Dart is also included in the squad whilst Gavin Brainch has moved onto Premier Division side Sandhurst Town.

Strikers Paul Timba and Michael Pym are still ruled by injury otherwise it will be the same squad as last weekend.

The Reserves are are in league action for the first time this season as they welcome local rivals Sheerwater Reserves to Redding Way, kick off 3pm.
This will be Paul Dyer's first compeitative game in charge as his new look reserve side will look to get off to the best possible start following an encouraging pre-season.
