The sun shone on a superbly organised 2010 town schools tournament with full credit due to Harrow Way SScO Rhonda Sturges, Sam Vokes of Sparsholt College and most notably to her team of 2nd year Sports Students who organised and coordinated the whole event which ran smoothly from start to finish. Supported by Lions in the Community referees Dean Stow, Jamie Dockree, Simon Woodley and Matt Scott the Sparsholt Sports Leaders provided referees, linesmen and pitch marshalls for all the games as well as doing the scoring, announcing the results and presenting the prizes!! Participating teams included Portway Juniors, Anton Juniors, Vigo Juniors, Roman Way, Andover C of E, Rookwood, Whitchurch, and Balksbury Juniors and the competition was closely contested from start to finish. After two nail biting semi finals which saw Portway beat Balksbury and Whitchurch edge through against Anton A following extra time and penalties , Portway came through as the eventual winners with a 3-0 win over Whitchurch! The whole tournament was played in excellent spirit and the teams were all a credit to their schools!! Well done to all involved, not least all the supporting staff and parents!!
