Academy U8's Will Battle With City Academy In April

It’s an experience they can take away with them for the rest of their lives.
- Academy Under 8s Manager Paul Roberts

Amongst the recent public success of Llandudno Football Clubs thriving Academy with the U16’s being crowned National Futsal Champions, and the visit of Italian Serie A giants Torino FC to The Giant Hospitality Stadium, it’s the Academy U8’s who are now making headlines as they secure a glamour friendly fixture at Manchester City Academy next month on April 9th.

Our Academy U8’s have done exceptionally well in their first year of the Academy, coached under Managers Paul Roberts and James McIlvogue the team have tasted victory this season against established WPL sides such as TNS, Airbus, Connah’s Quay, and Rhyl, and will now experience the test of the EPL’s blue half of Manchester, for whom one of our Academy 8’s starlets Shea Pita (Pictured above, left) is currently on the books.

Manager Paul Roberts said of the opportunity: “It’s a fantastic opportunity for all the boys, and for myself and Gillie (James McIlvogue) to experience playing against the likes of Premier League side Manchester City at their Academy. The main thing for me is that the team can travel down and learn from their experience, but most of all I hope they enjoy themselves, it’s an experience they can take away with them for the rest of their lives.”

Speaking of how the opportunity came about Paul added: “With Shea being part of the setup at Manchester City along with ourselves, it’s created a good relationship between the two academies. It’s a great testament of Shea’s ability to be involved with such a big Premier League side for nearly a season now, and it’s been a joy to watch him develop and progress over the past two years with us. I’d like to say a massive thank you to his parents Vic and Jen Pita for helping to organise the fixture and contribute in providing a good opportunity for the rest of the team.”

Llandudno Academy U8’s will take on Manchester City Academy on Sunday April 9th, 2.30pm Kick Off.
