It was of great relief that the rain stopped an hour before kick off.

The pitch looked good despite continual morning showers and Kevin Wilson came to Grange Park with a strong 1st team.

Blue's boss Charlie Palmer was without Burton, Hancock, Parker and Jermaine Palmer and included several new faces.

The first half was pretty even and both sides showed good passing and movement until the 40th minute where the match Referee Tim Walker decided to send Dominic Allen off. From that moment his decision changed the game to a " how to defend with 10 men" game rather than what the game was about which was a match to prepare for the season coming and give the new faces chance to shine.

Wilson himself was not particularly happy and the referee ignored pleas from both sides to allow a replacement. It was a poor decision from him and will probably stop club's using him pre season.

The second half saw major changes on both sides and predictably Ilkeston had the majority of the play in the Blue's half and resulting in 3 goals.

A bit of an anti climax in the end and thanks go to Ilkeston and Kevin Wilson for coming to Grange Park and the weather gods who kept the rain away until the final whistle.

The Blue's are away this Tuesday to Real United at Gedling Town's old ground.
