Management duo Chris Thomas and John Morrey (pictured with Chairman Ron Meredith upon their appointment)have proved that two heads are certainly better than one as they collect the Manager of the Month Award for October in the North West Counties Premier Division.
With an extremely tough challenge in October having 5 out of 6 games away and having to face an unbeaten Bootle and two sides that had previously beaten Maine Road the run of form has been excellent to scoop the prestigious award.
John Morrey said "I would put our good form down to hard work from the end of June, we have had a good preseason which in turn although taking some time for us to settle has seen the players producing some excellent displays, I would say working with this group of players is a pleasure, we will still continue to work hard for the rest of season and see where that takes us"
The run of form saw us scoring 19 goals and conceding 8 (The FA Vase contributing 4 of these)
02.10 - Glossop North End (away) won 1 - 4
06.10 - Bootle (away) won 1 - 2
20.10 - Runcorn Linnets (away) won 1 - 3
23.10 - Barnoldswick Town (away) lost 4 - 2 (FA Vase Round 1)
27.10 - Stone Dominoes (away) won 0 - 5 (NWCFL League Challenge Cup Round 2)
29.10 - Wigan Robin Park (home) won 3 - 1
Chris Thomas Said "It was totally unexpected, when i heard the news i have to admit that i hadn't taken much account of our run due to our loss in the FA Vase, but to be honest our league form recently has been excellent"
"I know its a Cliché but we have and will continue to take one game at a time, every side in this division prove a stern test and we will no doubt see this again on Saturday when we face Winsford, The players have been working extremely hard and that has born the fruit of our labor on the pitch"
The Committee would like to congratulate Chris and John in their efforts to date and wish them all the best for the remainder of the season.
