We train on Tuesday evenings from 6.30 to 8:00. Meet at the side of the training pitch for a prompt start.
We play games on Sunday mornings. For home games we meet at 10:15 for a 11.00 start and usually expect to finish at 12.30. The boys are encouraged to join the opposition players in the clubhouse for food and drink. We have a good schedule of games throughout the season, there is no selection and all available boys will have an equal amount of game time. We run a training session on Sundays when there is no game scheduled. For Sunday training we meet at 10:00 for a 10:15 start. These sessions finish at 11:45.
At this age group we play full contact rugby, with player safety absolutely our top priority. As a result mouth guards are mandatory. Please ask if you need some advice about mouth guards.
The coaching team for the 2023-24 season will be: Paul Misselbrook, Harrison Whitworth, Ian Armstrong, Damian Lutman and Neil Walmsley (Wal)
Our players have the freedom to play without the fear of making mistakes, to express themselves, use their imagination and to be creative (in other words, be themselves).
We have a squad of mixed ability and stature, they all have their own strengths and and areas to work on. The players naturally grow and develop at different rates and we look carefully at the needs of both the individual and the team in terms of their development. We really encourage the kids to help each other out because learning from your peers is a great way to learn!
We ensure that they understand and follow Rugby's five core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Disciple and Sportmanship.
Child Protection – We adhere to the RFU’s Safeguarding Guidelines. All our coaches are RFU qualified and hold enhanced DBS (criminal records) checks.
Concussion – any player that receives a knock to the head will be immediately assessed and, if necessary, removed from play and will not be allowed to return. We will continue to assess the player on the sideline and we will, if necessary, recommend that the player is taken for assessment by a medical professional.
