Chelsea Ladies started this Women's Premier League home tie well by taking the lead very early in the ninth minute of the game, through a Rebecca Jane goal. But all credit to the Blues who showed great resilience to overcome this set back, replying immediately with a Jill Scott goal and later one from Tash Dowie to go in at half time with a 2 - 1 lead.
The Blues came out strong in the second half and and went further ahead with a second goal from Tash Dowie followed by Michelle Hinnigan's first of the game. A penalty was awarded to Chelsea following a tackle by Rachel Unit, which was duly converted to bring the score line to Chelsea 2 - Everton 4. Captain Farah Williams scored from the penalty spot at the other end to seal the victory for the Blues and earn them three valuable league points.
Everton have now played 12 league games taking their points tally to 30 so far this season, this will move them up the league table ahead of Chelsea who have now played 15 games and remain on 28 points. It also puts them on level pegging with Arsenal Ladies who have one game in hand, but with both teams yet to meet in the league this season, it will make for a very interesting contest.
The Blues next play Nottingham Forrest away in the Women's Premier League on Sunday 28th March 2010 and return to Marine Sunday 4th April to play Sunderland WFC, who earlier this season took three points from Arsenal Ladies, beating them 2 - 1.
