The Evo-Stik “Manager of the Month” awards for September have gone to FC Halifax Town’s Neil Aspin in the top tier, Joey Dunn of Warrington Town in the First Division North whilst Greg Clowes, manager of newcomers Newcastle Town, picked up the First Division South prize.
The only blot on Aspin’s record in the month was a 1-1 draw with high flying Northwich Victoria with an otherwise 100% record with his side netting 17 times in their other four league outings added to which the “Shaymen” won two FA Cup ties. Aspin’s joy was compounded when Halifax drew his former club, Harrogate Town, in the next round of the FA Cup.
Joey Dunn captured the First Division North prize with his Warrington Town side coming through September as the only unbeaten side in the First Division North during which time his team played eight games. Warrington are, in addition, one of just two First Division North sides still remaining in the FA Cup.
It was a similar story in the First Division South where Greg Clowes saw his Newcastle Town side negotiate eight games unbeaten in September. They too are still in the FA Cup and included in their record during the month a superb away win in that competition at Southern League Premier Division side Hednesford Town.
Each winner will receive, courtesy of sponsors Evo-Stik, a magnum of champagne plus a suitably inscribed certificate.
Neil Aspin will receive his award prior to the kick off of the FC Halifax Town v Harrogate Town FA Cup tie on the 9th October. Joey Dunn will receive his award prior to the kick off of the Warrington Town v Witton Albion League Challenge Cup tie on the 12th October. Greg Clowes award will be made prior to the kick off of the Newcastle Town – Quorn League fixture on Tuesday 19th October.
