Dragons Junior Jake Parkes has signed professional terms with the mighty Hull KR for the 2024 season

Jakes Parkes, seen here signing his contract with Hull KR Academy Head Coach Rhys Lovegrove, has been give a season long opportunity to establish himself with the Super League Club, runners up in last years Rugby League Challenge Cup.

Jake is a relative newcomer to the sport and has made great strides in learning and improving to go with his prodigious athletic ability. He first came to Medway Dragons during the post COVID lockdown training sessions in Summer 2020 and began to learn his craft with the Under 16s and First Grade

Dragons Head Coach Martin Coyd said 'This is a great opportunity for Jake and we are delighted for him and his family. He has reached the bottom of the mountain and will be given a great education, coaching and support at Rovers who are leading the way on how to be a great club in the Super League'

'Jake has been working incredibly hard since he came to the Dragons and is very focussed on learning and being the best he can be. He has had great support from his Dad, Martin, and a number of seasoned First Grade players at the Dragons who have taken him under their wing and taught him how to play. That will give Jake a sound foundation to continue to improve'

Jake joins a number of Dragons who are playing professionally in the sport of Rugby League; Rob Butler in The Super League with London Broncos, along with the Leyland brothers who started at the Dragons; Joe Keyes and Lewis Hollidge are at Halifax in the Championship and we have Kaine Dimech playing in League One with Cornwall, The Choughs
