Coops views after first two Pre season games

Jim Cooper gave us his view after the first two Pre season games & prior to the weekends tournament at Corinthian Casuals. Pictured Rob Bartley

The two pre season games that we have played so far have given us reasons to be optimistic. Both games were won, only one goal was conceded and the usual brand of quick attacking football was on show in both games as normal.

The Fulham result was particularly pleasing for me. Fulham brought a strong U21 side to Imber Court last night and apart from the first ten minutes of the game where they had a lot of possession (mainly in the middle third) they didn’t really trouble us. We on the other hand started to take control of proceedings and looked very good on the counter attack. A goal from Rob Bartley was enough to win the game, a pin point delivery from Charlie Collins found Barts around the penalty spot and he headed home with ease. We had numerous other chances, Barts hitting the cross bar and had another stopped on the line.

All in all, it was a very good game played in a competitive spirit and I would like to thank Fulham FC for agreeing to play the game which was witnessed by a good crowd.

On the player front, it is well documented that we have lost numerous players from last seasons squad. I am very pleased at this stage with their replacements. We are still looking for one or two others and if I can tie down the ones I want, we should have a very competitive squad that in my opinion will be better than last season, team thus allowing us to challenge for honours again this year.

I would also like to pass on mine & the clubs condolences to evryone at Tonbridge Angels FC and the friends & family of Junior Dian, who tragically collapsed & died during a game on Tuesday night.
