Over the last 40 years, have you played for town at any level or helped out at the club? We are looking for all old players and supporters and we would like you to attend our celebrations over the weekend.
On Friday the 2nd we will be holding a
‘Ladies Night’. This is for all you ladies who have helped and supported the club over the last 40 years. Support comes in many guises, from helping out on matchdays, to fundraising, or just getting the lads to the games on time. For this, we want to thank you. It promises to be full night of fun and entertainment including a meal and disco, all for only £10. Come and have a great night. Check out the club website for ticket information or talk to a member.
On Saturday the 3rd December, the day starts at 12:30pm with a snack lunch before a re-match of the inaugural game for the club in 1971 as
Newtown Presidents XV take on a Welshpool Select XV at 1.30 pm. Then it’s back to the clubhouse to meet up with old friends whilst watching Wales v Australia on the TV. At 6:30pm the formal celebrations begin with a 3 course meal in the marquee and a full night of celebrating 40 years of rugby in Newtown. If you have played in any Newtown side over the last 40 years, please come and meet up with your old friends – this day is for you. Tickets for the night will be £20 with all profits going to the club.
To round off the weekend, Sunday will be a day for the kids, with
fun and games and BBQ starting at 1pm.
Can you Help – do you have or know anybody who has any
old photos of players or matches from over the last 40 years. We would like to scan these to display on the evening of the celebration. We promise to return them to you safely.
Please check out this web site or email
