Shields beat Seaham

Shields kicking against the wind went in front courtesy of George Stoddart in the opening moments of the game. Conversion missed 5-0.

Seaham then grasped control of the game rattling in three converted tries to make
it 5-21 before Ben Marshall pulled one back to make it 10-21 just before half time.

Second half begins - Seaham extended their lead scoring an unconverted try to make it
10-26 and the game looking like it was theirs.

However, returning old boy Ben Reid brought hope going over to make the score 17–26 with Will Evans kicking the conversion.

Still 9 points behind up steps the returning Scott Murphy (been a huge miss) to go over and bring Shields to within 2 points, Will Evans adding the extras. 24-26.

Shields now on the front foot smelt blood and returning from injury Carl Owens scored to put us 31-26 in front. Will Evan’s kicking conversion.

Towards the end of the game Seaham tried to play the ball from deep in their 22 but the ball hit the post protector leaving the loose ball free for the quick minded predator Ben Marshall to pounce. Conversion slotted Will Evans - final score 38-26.

I’d like to thank Seaham for rocking up and giving us a good hard competitive game. Sadly they are relegated now, which is a real shame. I feel for Neil and his boys, but really wish you lads the best going forwards and look forward to you boys returning to level 8.
