Builth Wells honour two club stalwarts at club dinner

Gary Williams2 Jul 2011 - 20:07

Mike Price and Jeremy Pugh, two stalwarts of Builth rugby, were awarded life membership of the club at the annual dinner and awards ceremony

The honour was conferred in recognition of outstanding service to the club for over thirty years and was presented to Mike and Jeremy by Dai Pickering, Chairman of the WRU Board.

The Bulls annual dinner celebrated the past season with over one hundred members and guests present. The guests of honour were Dai Pickering, the former Wales and British Lion Steve Fenwick and Ray Wilton WRU Board member. Dai presented Jeremy and Mike with their life membership of the club and recounted tales of his playing days with Jeremy, almost all unprintable!

Steve gave a memorable after-dinner speech recounting his career with Wales and the Lions, a tear jerking (laughter) account of by-gone players and their escapades. There was hardly a dry eye in the room by the time he sat down.

Steve was then asked to present the awards for outstanding contributions and performances for the past season. Collecting the awards were:

Steve Price as Clubman of the Year;

John Richards as Supporter of the Year;

Ben Pugh as Player of the Year;

Tom Price as Players Player of the year;

Andrew Morgan as most improved player of the year;

Huw Thomas as top try scorer

The evening was a great success with a surfeit of excellent food and memorable stories, congratulations to the organisers and the speakers for facilitating such a memorable event.
