Norton sign off in style

And just like that, we were playing our final league game of the 23/24 season. A campaign that has been hindered by injuries and unavailability and will certainly be graded as 'could do better', that being said, the boys were determined to go out on a high.

The Skipper was insistent on pulling names out of a hat and came prepared with his notebook and pen, the gaffers could hardly say no after he'd written them all out...

Lewis Thompson and Rory Spinks were injured, Harvey Brown, Charlie Halifax and Mitch Forbes were all unavailable.

The hat selected Ads in goal with a back four consisting of our top scorer, Keegan Middleton at Right back, Toz Daniels and George Russell at CB with Mitch Carson in at Left Back. Jay Turner was on the left wing with Connor Doddington and Sam Brackenbury in the middle and Samir Lamarti on the right wing. Up top, we had Ryan Labrum and Alex Husband. Occupying the bench were Liam Brown, Shannon Deeks and Lewis Wing. The hat would choose subs after 30 mins, HT and on 70 mins. The Hat chose Samir Lamarti as the skipper for the day.

To be fair to the hat, the lads were on it and dominated possession early doors. The back line looked assured and Dodds and Bracks were getting stuck in. Jay T was playing like a prime Ryan Giggs on the left!

Our first corner arrived on the 06th minute and it's fair to say that it was pretty awful... Dodds stepped up and the ball stayed in play for all of 5 yards.

Just 6 minutes later and we had scored as Mitch Carson went on a run down the left and then played a great one two with Jay Turner who then got a cross in that cannoned off the bar but fortunately for Norton, our left back turn striker (Labrum) was quickest to react and headed it in from close range. 0-1 to The Millers.

Just 2 minutes later and the hats other striker, Husband had also got involved as Toz Daniels released his inner Trent Alexander-Arnold by playing a superb ball over the top for Husband to run onto and then casually dribble past the keeper. 0-2 The Millers

Norton should've increased their lead as Liam Brown delivered a delicious cross for Lamarti who could only head wide from close range. Lamarti then bundled over a defender on the line as Jay Turners lob had just gone in, free kick awarded and no goal given. Come on Samir Lad! Samir did make up for it by notching our 3rd of the game on 40 minutes. Again it was Giggsy (Turner) down the left who had left two in his wake before squaring to the onrushing Lamarti in the box who took a touch and then smashed the ball in off the inside of the far post.

Half Time 0 - 3 to The Millers

For the second half, the hat chose Lamarti at left back, George Russell and Liam Brown at CB with Alex Husband at RB. Dodds was on the left wing with Keegs on the Right wing and we had plenty of strength in the centre park with Lewis Wing bossing it, Toz Daniels was also in the centre... Up top we had Deeks and Carson.

Just 3 minutes into the 2nd half and we'd extended our lead to 4-0 with Carson yet again playing a brilliant through ball for Keegan Middleton to run onto and bury his shot into the far corner for his 30th of the season. 0 - 4 The Millers

5 minutes later and Carson got his deserved goal and some goal it was! Husband was the provider with a cross from the right and Carson produced a spectacular scissor kick to make it 5-0.

9 minutes later and it became 6-0 as Toz Daniels finished first time on his left foot into the bottom corner from 12 yards out. It's fair to say he enjoyed that one with his celebration.

Just 3 minutes later and Toz nearly had his 2nd as he curled one from 30 yards into the keepers top left but somehow the keeper managed to stretch out a hand and push it wide for a corner.

6-0 became 7-0 on 70 minutes and it was time for Giggsy to get in on the act. Lewis Wing produced a perfect cross for Turner to outjump his marker and glance his head in delicately. We'd also experienced 7 different scorers up to this point.

For the final 20, Lamarti was removed and Dodds was named the captain.

Norton finished the game with a flurry of 3 goals in just 4 minutes. It started with Labrum cooly notching his 2nd on the 80th minute and Keegs smashing in his 31st of the season a minute later. The icing on the cake came on the 83rd minute as Labrum capped of a great day for The Millers by scoring his hattrick with a half volley from 30 yards out. A fantastic way to score a hatty. The shh celebration with a finger to his mouth directed at his missus may need working on though...

Full Time and The Millers win 10-0. A great all-round team effort with plenty of smiles on faces. The Ashton Shaw MOTM went to the hattrick hero, Ryan Labrum.
