Union started the year with a bang with a seven try haul at Lowestoft & Yarmouth, securing another 5 points and climbing the table to third position with a game in hand.

Union began the game with purpose, taking little time to gain territory and force their way to the line, returning scrum half Lloyd Davis was on hand to feed captain Simon Pitcher, who picked the ball off his boot laces, giving him the perfect driving angle to barge his way over the line for the first try of the game. Fly half Tom Whitehouse narrowly missing the conversion from the side-line.

Davis then bagged a try for himself, following a bust by flanker Dan Jones, who was stopped just short of the line Davis forced his way over the line to score, with Whitehouse adding the extras to take a 0-12 lead at the 15m mark.

An impressive break by www.osteostasis.com man of the match wing David Sheldon-Smillie who made yard each time he got the ball in hand resulted in good field position, the hosts however turned over the ball over at the breakdown and cleared, but fullback Graham Hunt ran the ball back, before releasing Whitehouse who in turn fed centre Louis Ford who ran in under the posts making an easy conversion for Whitehouse to take a 0-19 lead as half time approached.

Union scored soon after kick off, initially squandering a try having pushed the L&Y pack over the line, only for Number-8 Jon Spicker to knock on in the process of scoring, he soon made amends pouncing on a loose ball at the following scrum rolling over the line to score, Whitehouse again adding the extras to stretch the lead to 0-24.

Whitehouse was next to score, with broken play resulting in forwards taking up backs positions, Pitcher showed off his handling skills with a miss pass in midfield to put Whitehouse in space allowing him to race down the wing to score a try, which he was unable to convert, the score now totalling 0-29.

Graham Hunt was next to score, having taken over from Davis at scrum half, he dummied the pass from the base of a ruck allowing him to sneak through the narrowest of gaps before jinking his way to the line from 20m out scoring a try on the right flank.
Lowestoft made a late rally, forcing a number of penalties as they progress up the pitch and once in kickable range took three points to take the score to 3-34.

However, Union then scored their seventh and last try of the game through Jones, who burst his way through the defensive line to score, which was duly converted by Whitehouse to take a 0-41 lead as the game entered its final stages.

Despite having little possession to play with and as a result having to defend for most of the game Lowestoft ended the game on a high scoring a converted try just before the final whistle was blown, the final score being 10-41.
