Ossett Town AFC are delighted to announce the appointment of Graham Nicholas as first team manager.

Nicholas leaves Garforth Town, currently sitting eighth in the NCEL Premier Division, to take over the reins from John Reed who parted company by mutual consent with the club last weekend.

Nicholas, a UEFA A Licensed Coach joined Garforth Town in the summer of 2013 after their relegation from the Evo-stik Division 1 North and began a re-building job.

He took the club to two mid table finishes with very limited resources and also to the final of last season’s West Riding County Cup where they were narrowly defeated by Conference North side Bradford Park Avenue.

Chairman James Rogers said “After the departure of John Reed we sat down and considered what qualities we wanted in the next manager of this football club. Graham is a highly respected and ambitious young manager and was the unanimous choice of the selection panel to be installed as Ossett Town's new manager. Graham will work closely with the coaching staff we already have in place, with Dave Merris continuing in his role of Assistant Manager and John Francis as Development coach”.

Nicholas said “This is a job I have been looking at for some time and I am delighted to be joining the team at Ossett Town. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Garforth Town but I am an ambitious manager and want to test myself at the highest possible level. Ossett Town is a great club run by good and committed people and I will be inheriting a good squad of players many of whom I know well. I will though want to put my own stamp of things and can’t wait to get started.”

Dave Merris, Assistant Manager said "Graham is a young enthusiastic manager who has proven himself at Garforth by creating a successful style of football. We both seem to have the same ambitions for Ossett Town and I look forward to working along side him and progressing the club forward.

Nicholas' first game in charge will be away to Evo-Stick First Division South side Goole on Tuesday 10 November in the Integro League Cup following the postponement of the league game at Northwich Victoria on 7 November due to their continued involvement in this season’s FA Cup.

Nicholas will lead his new charges at the 4G Voice and Stadium for the first time four days letter when local rivals Brighouse Town visit Ossett on 14 November for a 3pm kick-off.
