The Star lads were beaten 3-0 by the professional big guns of Coventry City in a first round proper tie played at Nuneaton Town FC.
Star delivered a disciplined display and restricted Coventry, who sit top of Professional Development League Division Two, to hopeful efforts for the majority of the first half.
The Sky Blues eventually hit the front on the stroke of the interval and then grabbed two further goals in the second half – both scored by James Maddison, a player who has already made six appearances for the Coventry first team.
Star boss Genovese said: “The lads put in a great shift and can be very proud of their progress in the FA Youth Cup.
“We came through three rounds to earn our tie against Coventry and the experience will be really valuable.”
