Ramsey face a daunting task on Saturday when unbeaten league leaders Orrell visit the former Mooragh fortress. Orrell are simply too strong for Lancs/Cheshire 1 and are scoring on average 44 points per game while conceding on average just 11. They have the most potent attack and the meanest defence and have the only dropped points so far are the three occasions when they failed to score four or more tries. When Ramsey visited Orrell the final score was 83-6, although only 10-6 after twenty minutes. An Alex Gaskell hat trick did the damage for Orrell as did a twenty three point contribution from kicker James Ratcliffe.
Ramsey have toiled all season and lost to Southern Nomads in the Manx cup last week. There is however some encouraging news from the Mooragh. Adam Dunlop is back at Uni so (Our) Rory Nicholson moves into the front row and this frees up a second row space for Ramsey talisman John F Watling who had a little trundle last week and looked as sharp as ever. Conor Goodall made an encouraging debut in the ten jersey and he gets another start. Dan Bonwick and Dave Keenan return at centre. Connor Casey's head knock keeps him out with Captain Chaos Mikey Craine replacing him on the wing.
Orrell are statistically the better side here and the result on Saturday is likely to reflect that. Anything which Ramsey can take from the game will be a positive as phase two of the league looms closer.
