The grand finale.
On Saturday the Reds welcome to the Recreation ground old friends Dings Crusaders. Our visitors arrive having secured their place in National 2 South for next season, they sit in 13th place but are crucially 7 points above relegated Birmingham & Solihull. Last time out Dings suffered a narrow home defeat to Worthing by 33 – 36. After 28 games their top try scorer was Matthew Smith on 10 and their man with the boot, Ben Bolster, had scored 157 points. Probably Dings best performance of the season was a home win over play-off placed Canterbury by 23 – 20.
After defeat at Old Redcliffians the Reds are now in 9th place with 64 points. The top try scorers so far are Dean Bonds and Jack Simmonds on 10 and Aaron Simmonds still leads the way with the boot on 118 points, Richard Kevern though is not too far behind on 83 points. Sam Stevens is now out on his own in terms of games played having appeared in 28 of the 29 league games.
In the first match of the season, which seems like a lifetime ago, the Reds won away at Dings by 25 – 17. Let’s hope for another entertaining match on Saturday and hope the Reds can end the season as they began.
At half-time the Mini-Junior section will hold their now tradition parade.
Come on you Reds.
