A sublime 2nd half goal from Nathan Fraser cancelled out former Colliery man Mel Cotton's first half header.
Early chances went the visitors way before the game evened out with both sides enjoying plenty of time on the ball. Askern got their goal 2 minutes before the break. A cross from the left was met by an unmarked Cotton to glance his header across Appleby.
The 2nd half took a turn for the worse for The Colliery 10 minutes in when Mirfin first hit the crossbar with his spot-kick then 2 minutes later Thornton saw his marching orders after a scuffle involving around 5/6 players. Lodge changed the personnel (Chipamunga replacing Clark) shortly after and it gave the Askern defence something different to think about.
Indeed Chipamunga was involved (as he had in previous games) setting up Fraser to chip over the keeper for 1-1.
The Colliery were on the up and despite the numerical disadvantage there only looked to be one winner.
Unfortunately it was not to be and the game ended 1-1
