Match report from Pete Sorsby:
Game 1 - v Bridlington Drew 0-0
Close game with not many chances for either side.
Huw Barber and Tom (Sorsby) played well in defence. Kate Licence and Caitlin Barber linked well down the left, with Chris Parke seeing plenty of the ball.
Other good performances were from Tom Zarowski at the top of the diamond and a couple of strong saves from Alex.
Game 2 - v Bradford drew 1-1
A game we should have won, having more possession and chances.
George Darby scored his first U14 goal when an aerial ball out of defence by Tom Sorsby bypassed the entire midfield (theirs and ours!) leaving Tom Downes and George to break away 2 on 1 against their last defender. George ran intelligently off the ball to get the return from Tom beyond the keeper and score into an empty goal.
Tom Sorsby made a great, redeeming goal line clearance, having earlier given the ball to one of their forwards when trying to clear his lines!
A strong performances across the whole team, with Bradford scoring from one of their few chances.
Game 3 - v Sheffield Lost 2-0
Sheffield were the strongest team on the day - they were well represented by several JAC players.
Good team effort with some of our best hockey played all day.
Kate Licence showed bravery by coming back on after sustaining a nasty blow in game 2 and made a difference in midfield.
Huw and Caitlin Barber again showed well in defence, both very strong in the tackle and with good interceptions but despite their efforts and a number of good saves by Alex, Sheffield had plenty of chances and converted 2 good goals.
Tom Zarowski worked hard, as he did all day, as did Chris Parke. Tom Sorsby rounded off a good display in all 3 games by almost going from one end to the other to score, resulting in a penalty corner, but sadly not the goal we deserved.
