The Challenge Cup eve Wreath Laying ceremony will once again take place this friday at the Cenotaph on Whitehall

The Rugby League family will pay its respects on the eve of the Challenge Cup final to those men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country Rugby Football League Executives and team captains of finalists Hull FC and Wigan Warriors along with representatives from the HM Armed Forces will lay wreaths at the Cenotaph on Whitehall at 4pm 25 August.

The ceremony was restored to Challenge Cup Final weekend tradition by HM Armed Forces in 2014, and takes place the day before the final. Last year’s ceremony drew larger crowds from the rugby league family showing their support to the Armed Forces, and was bolstered by hundreds of visitors to the capital.

This special ceremony has been organised by the United Armed Forces Rugby League committee who would be honoured and grateful for your attendance. Please note the timing for this year’s ceremony has been moved to later in the day, 4pm, than in previous years. If you are arriving early for Rugby Leagues big day in London it would be much appreciated if you can spare a few minutes to join the official party on Whitehall to pay your respects to the fallen of all conflicts.
