U13 and U15 teams finish runners up in international tournament in Paris

Scarborough Ladies FC have two more international trophies to add to the cabinet, after the Under-13 and Under-15 teams finished as runners-up in the ESF International Youth Festival of Football in Paris this weekend.

Staying at Disneyland Paris's Davy Crockett Ranch Resort ion France, and visiting the famous Disney theme parks in between the football, the players were accompanied by their parents, siblings and team coaches, making a 50-strong party for the five-day trip.
The football - played at the Stade Corraza in Meaux, just north of Disneyland Paris - was spread over the Thursday to Saturday, with the two sides facing opposition from France, Ireland and other UK teams.
With eight teams in each group the top four would battle out for the International Cup, while the lower four would enter a Shield competition, with every side playing nine matches.
Both sides faired well in the group stages, with the U15s finishing 3rd with just one defeat in seven games, and the U13s losing just twice to finish fourth. Both therefore went into the International Cup knock-out round.

The semi-finals were played on Saturday morning, and the teams both faced French sides. The U13s beat unbeaten group stage winners FC Bussy 1-0 to advance to the final match. And the U15s beat local side CS Meaux 3-1 to reach their final.
In the final they both faced tough opposition. The U13s lost out 2-0 to Foyle Belles FC of Derry in Ireland who had finished 2nd and unbeaten in the group stage.
And the U15s also faced tough opposition in the shape of the 'A' team from Thorpe St Andrew School of Norfolk, who have previously competed in the World Youth Cup in Sweden. The Boro girls went down 7-0 but had done enough to earn the finalist's trophy and medals.
The success in Paris builds on last year's tournament entries, when the U13s and U14s of the 2014-15 season finished runners-up and winners of the shield competition respectively.
Congratulations go to the two teams and their coaches, not only for representing the club amazingly well on the field, but also representing the club, the town and the region in such a prestigious tournament.
